Imagine an animal that has been rescued and is need of adoption. The people who rescued the animal have miraculously found someone who wants to adopt the animal. But there’s one problem; they are across the country. How do you transport an animal across the country safely and reasonably?
Operation Roger is the solution. Operation Roger is a group of truckers from across the country that has formed a 501(c)(3) and work together to transport pets to their new homes. They do this by matching up the route they are driving as their job with where the pet needs to go. This means that a pet can be with one trucker for the whole trip or the pet can be cared for by multiple truckers on its journey driving multiple legs of the trip. And what’s the best part? The transport is free!
This non-profit organization is doing such great things. Since they started, they have transported over 847 pets and have done 62 already this year! On their website, you can read the stories of some of these animals that have been transported to their new homes. You can also see opportunities to volunteer!
